Smita serves on the Board of Gray Matters Capital (US) and
Digital Reading Foundation (India). She believes in the transformational
power of business models that blend profit with purpose.Smita brings a
global perspective to her work informed by her diverse experience of living
and working in Africa,Asia,Europe, and the US with for-profit and not for
institutions.\n Smita started her career in 2001 as a banker and worked in
multiple roles in product,forex and operations in retail,MSME,Corporate and
International banking group of ICICI Bank.She joined the start-up team of
transformational consultancy Volans (UK) that helps social entrepreneurs.
She the headed Research and Performance Management for Community Banking
with Standard Bank (South Africa) where she worked with the unbanked and
underbanked to increase the adoption of mobile banking, credit and
correspondent banking. She was the first employee recruited
to the India office of Gray Matters Capital. At GMC, she architected and
led edLABS that provides very early stage funding to "visionary edu-preneurs"
for the development of disruptive solutions to education problems. She
brought behavioural design thinking to GMC to enhance engagement of apps on
mobile phones.She also led Gray Matters Capital`s Ecosystem work with
Affordable Private Schools owners and associations towards enhancing the
quality of education in schools.
Smita has a degree in Electrical Engineering,MBA in Finance from SP Jain
Institute of Management and Research; She also graduated top of her class
during her Master`s in International Organization from University of Geneva.
Anand is a Management professional from
University of Lincolnshire and Humberside (now called the
University of Lincoln-UK) with 26 years of diversified working
experience in Banking and Non-Banking Finance Companies (NBFCs)
in India and Middle East. Prior to Joining ISFC, Anand was an
Associate Director in Gray Matters Capital Managing the entire
Operations of Affordable Private School Replication Units
EdFina-MFB in Africa and Taaleem Finance Private Limited in
Pakistan.
He has handled multiple responsibilities under highly competitive
and challenging environments and his experience ranging from new
market identification, Market analysis, setting up Banking and
NBFC operations, outstanding talent in Business Development,
Product Policy development, Credit Underwriting, Recruitment and
training, Leadership capabilities and team management skills. He
is a passionate, dynamic leader and has hands on experience of
the field which enables him to develop a good rapport with his
staff and most importantly the clients.
